July is the time for Pansies, my favourite. Mass plant Pansy seedlings or Pansy pots of colour and drench your Winter garden in bright and cheery colours.
Sow seeds of baby spinach. These can be grown in a pot and harvested when they’re tiny. This makes them suitable for even the smallest gardens.
Plant seed potatoes in warm, frost-free climates. Sprout seed potatoes in a dry spot and, while you’re waiting for them to shoot, prepare the garden bed where the potatoes will grow. To prepare beds turn the soil and add generous amounts of Moo Poo or Chicken Poo.
Carrots, Broccoli, Beetroot, Cauliflower, Brocolette, Beans and Silverbeet
Remember, seedlings are baby plants, they need protection from strong winds and heavy Winter rains.
Prepare the soil, use Searles 5 in 1 Plant & Soil Conditioner to freshen and boost the existing soil. Follow the spacing guidelines on the seedling punnets and plant each of the seedlings into the prepared bed, water in well and apply Sugarcane Mulch to keep in the moisture.
Winter is a good time to prune, however when did you last clean and sharpen your garden tools? Ensure you use bleach to clean your Secateurs and remember to rinse and dry them thoroughly before you put them away.
